About Us
Welcome to SHUBHAM
Shubham Viklang Vikas Sansthan, established in 1993 in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, is a leading non-governmental organization committed to improving the lives of persons with disabilities.
Over the past three decades, we have grown from a small special school into a multifaceted institution working in education, rehabilitation, livelihood development, social awareness, and advocacy for the rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
What began with only 22 students has now evolved into a network of impactful programs benefiting over 27,000 individuals — including those with visual, hearing, locomotor, and multiple disabilities.
At Shubham, we work with a single belief: disability is not a limitation — it is a challenge that can be overcome through opportunity, care, and empowerment.
Journey
Our journey began with the establishment of an Integrated School for the Blind and Orthopedically Impaired. Over time, recognizing the wider needs of the community, we expanded into multiple service areas:
-
Education & Inclusive Learning
-
Braille and Audio Book Production
-
Vocational and Digital Skill Training
-
Therapy and Rehabilitation Services
-
Sports and Cultural Inclusion
-
Rural Outreach & Awareness
-
Research and Policy Advocacy
Today, Shubham stands as a beacon of inclusion and empowerment — an institution where differently-abled individuals are not only educated and trained but also prepared for independent living and dignified employment.
Our Philosophy
The name “Shubham” itself means auspicious and uplifting.
Our motto, “Aatmanirbharatvam Shubham”, reflects our deep conviction that the true spirit of welfare lies in self-sufficiency.
Every programme we design aims to instill confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging among the differently-abled community.
Our Mission
To create an enabling environment for the holistic development, rehabilitation, and self-sufficiency of persons with disabilities through education, skill training, medical support, and social inclusion.
Our Vision
A society where every person with a disability can learn, earn, and live with dignity, empowered to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to their community.
Our Core Objectives
-
To provide inclusive and quality education to children with disabilities.
-
To promote vocational, digital, and professional training that enables self-employment and economic independence.
-
To ensure medical and therapeutic support for persons with physical, sensory, and intellectual disabilities.
-
To create awareness and advocacy for disability rights and social inclusion.
-
To build partnerships with government, institutions, and civil society for policy development and implementation.
